KX500 top end after rebuild

Right before my trip to Christmas Valley I felt it necessary to do a quick top end rebuild.
The problem was, I didn't have time to break it in the way I wanted and everything was untested as I also did a full Race Tech suspension rebuild.
My gearing was way to tall and my jetting was completely wrong for the altitude.
But, I have never let small details like that keep me from a ride ;)
The good news is I had no mechanical failures and the bike ran good enough so that I still had a great time.
One of the things I was going to have done before I left is have the squish changed.
The head was re-cut once before but Motorrad has some mods that I wanted to try.
So, I pulled the head off to send it away.
This is what I found..

Obviously it has some issues but I expected much worse

A quick wipe with a rag made the head look much better

So... the quest goes on...

I was asked what a good burn looks like.
Here is a pic that illustrates it pretty well.
