Now I won't have to ask people to hold my bike while I run into the store

I had to cut and shorten mine to work with SM (17") stuff.
Just a FYI

Good to know and that makes perfect sense.
Initially I'm running knobs on stock wheels but that will change

Last Friday I picked up a KX500 engine complete with electronics and carb for 400 bucks.
I didn't see the engine but the story was a friend of a friend had the motor in his nice bike and lost it out the back of his truck going down the freeway.
The engine was one of the few things that survived.
The guy raved about the condition and wanted a lot more then I offered...
But I told him that I have heard it all before and 400 was my max.
It could be less depending on what I find, and yes I will be pulling the top end off as well as the side covers so I can see what we are working with.
So he rides his motorcycle down 100 miles with the KX500 engine in a box strapped to the back.
We did a quickly disassembly and it looked good so we paid him the money and away he went.
Today I was looking at that engine and, I was looking at my SM sitting there waiting for me to finish all my mods when it occurred to me that with the weather getting nicer, why not toss in my last new Wiseco piston in this new motor to freshen it up a bit and run that to get a base line for water temp mods.
So, I checked the crank and the cylinder and everything specs out great.
Clean, clean, clean.....

I almost split the cases for new seals but I rolled the dice as this is a temp.
I'll probably kick myself later but for now we'll just see what happens.

It's coming together...
Oh yeah, I used some foot pegs from a YZ400F, a little grinding here and there...
