A little trimming of the pin...
A little grease in the tower...
A few bolts and it's done..

Ok, enough of that noise.
I took my engine cases out, pressed out the bearings and seals, did a degreasing wash on them and started checking them for imperfections.
Wouldn't you know it, drain hole damage

And I already knew about this damage.

So off to tig weld they go...

Back from tig and sandblasting..
It helps when your buddy runs the weld shop right next door

The drain hole fix turned out better then I expected.

Now I need to make a decision.
Should I semi polish the cases, Paint them, or leave them raw?
I did some quick semi polish just to get an idea of what it would look like as you can see in the right side of the pic above as well as the drain hole.
What do you guys think?

I leave mine blasted finish.
from time to time I go over them with a scotchbrite pad (gray) and some WD40. keeps em looking nice. with... MINIMAL EFFORT.
it is a race bike........ yours being a street queen. you may get away with more than I do.
I didnt bust the case... I swear....
notice anything else done to those cases when you got them back ??

I know you didn't break it.
It was one of those things that is hard to see unless you start cleaning things up.
There was some grey sealant around the drain plug which is always a bad sign...
I didn't see anything that caught my attention that you might have done.
But then again I didn't really inspect them before I sent them for the trans experiment or when I got them back.
For inspections I need my nerd glasses on
What did I miss?

I figured you would catch it too. as it was nice shiny fresh cut alum. against all the ugly alum backing.

If I don't hold something far away I can't see anything but BLUR...
If I hold it far enough away to get rid of the blur, it's too far away to see...
It's probably too late now but I'll inspect them tomorrow with my nerd glasses on
