That is right.
What you see is raw ultra clean aluminum.

The engineering place said they sandblast the outside of the head somewhere during or after the nikasil plating process.
This gives it a very dull look. When i get it back should i send it in for vapour blasting and it will come out looking like that?
Apparently they sandblast it to get a blue paint off that they use during the plating process. So is this correct or should a try and get a different engineering company that uses a different technique?

We vapor blast after it has been plated.
Glass blasting is a good preparation for vapor blasting.
Sand blasting is harsh but vapor blasting will make it look much better.
But I would rather the plating company use glass blasting if I had a choice.
Regardless if they glass or sand blast, be careful vapor blasting around the new plating.
If you shoot the blast media around the edges of the new plating you can lift the edges of the plating right off.
So we only vapor blast the outside of the cylinder after it has been plated.

I saw on your 500AF build you used the headstay and frame rails from JFabMotorsport.
Is it best to order from him?
I would like to start the prep work on my frame.

Well... If you can get some from Jfab that would be great.
Try to contact him and see if he is available.
You might also look around and see if there are any "Y" kits available..

Got the motor in this weekend.
Drilled the hole for the swingarm pivot bolt bigger and ground the collars very lightly to make the motor fit.
Then I cut the frame in front for the exhaust to fit.
