Great tutorial! Since we’re talking about tutorials, how about one listing the best way to secure various pieces of hardware on these bikes, ie, side cover bolts as opposed to engine bolts etc. I was also wondering about head nuts for example; I assume you can’t put loctite on those, because you’d never be able to properly retorque. What about lockwashers on those? I’m wondering, because I have new head/cylinder studs and getting all new hardware for everything else too. The nuts for the head are flange nuts, but you can get serrated flange nuts or smooth. What does the Guru use? Another one that is burning in my mind is clutch hub nuts; mine were really loose when I disassembled it...blue loctite?
I know the Guru must have other things to do, but a “hardware tutorial” would be a great addition to the excellent info on this forum.

(pretty please)

P.S. if I was on any other forum, some troll would post something snarky about using the search button. The civil nature of KX Guru stands out from the rest, and it is much appreciated!
BTW, I do use the search button a lot lol

Lol... Yeah, we don't allow that sort of behavior which isn't to hard.
This forum is more of a data repository then a chat forum such as is on Facebook.
But the baloney is for other sites as knowledge is our thing and we can all learn new things.
On the nut's and bolts thing it would be cool but also very time consuming.
If I could do it, it would not happen until winter.
I've got WAY to many projects going on that I have to get done.
But I'll tell you this... get a manual and use the torque values in it.
90% of all bolt related issues are from incorrect torque specs being used.
DO NOT EVER use and kind of locker for plastics... It's just not necessary and you will give yourself fits getting them out without ruining anything.

That was pretty cool to see my bike on their Instagram feed. Although one mean man said it was ugly in the comments.

There is always one oddball in the crowd... Generally it just means that they are jealous

One update to the cookbook from my recent dealings with my conversion. When I moved my coil to the side of the frame, I left the coil brackets on the frame. This prevented me from removing the head without taking the engine out of the frame. Since they were no longer needed, I cut them off and now I am able to remove the head, and possibly the cylinder, without removing the motor from the frame. The brackets are easy to cut off, and serve no structural purpose.
