Buyer: Hello. I received the engine today. Thanks for quick shipping. However, there is a few problems. The stator is out of spec. The secondary circuit on the ignition coil is dead. The CDI is for a Yamaha not a Kawasaki. Both engine cases are cracked on the bottom. The clutch cover is dented and cracked all the way through. I haven't torn into it enough to see if there is anything else wrong. How would you like to handle these problems? Thanks. Mike
Buyer: I forgot to mention that it is a 1990 KX500 engine, not a 92, and I am happy to provide pics and documentation as to what I am
talking about on anything you may be unclear on.
Thanks.
Mike
Seller: Ok so you are saying that the engine is a 1990 engine that i have shipped to you and what is wrong with it are you trying to take
say that the engine will not work because im pretty sure the engines have all been the same except for pre liquid cooled i need to figure
out what you want to do and why you have taken back your payment
Buyer: Hello.
Go to the dispute and read everything posted.
Off the top of my head, both cases were cracked, one has a mount completely broken off and missing.
The clutch cover is cracked all the way through, the engine is the wrong year, the coil is dead, the CDI is from a Yamaha, the head is
pitted and dented and will require a resurface and the combustion turned, the stator tested out of spec.
I can't remember what else... then again I haven't split the cases to see how it looks inside.
Seller: no message sent but offered me 150 to keep it.
Buyer: Sorry, paying 350 for a pile of mostly scrap isn't going to work. You can refund me 400 and I'll keep it, or take it back for a full refund. I'm good with either
Seller: Ok understood now regardless the cdi box i need back no matter what but i offered partial refund if willing to accept i will send
correct cdi if not and you want full refund you need to pay forshipping back but as for the issues the pictures where clear for the head
and i never noticed cracks u payed cheap for complete engine other listing are upwards to 900
Seller offered a refund of 200 for me to keep it.
This was done through the eBay dispute center.
Buyer: Ok, I understand but 200 is not gonna work for me.
I'll send it all back for a full refund, but since you clearly missed all of what is obvious damage especially to the cases why should I
be stuck paying for return shipping? Does that really seem fair to you?
Seller: Yes it does because why should i loose even more money i paid to ship once already so you want me to straight pay 100 to send an
engine back and forth for no reason
Seller offered a refund of 300 for me to keep it.
This was done through the eBay dispute center.
Buyer: Sorry, I do not want it for a 300 dollar refund to keep what is left, I need a good bottom end.
If you misrepresent a product knowingly or unknowingly your still at fault, not the buyer.
Why should I be out anything due to your negligence?
Really, a 20 second inspection would have revealed at least the busted cases.
So, I'll send it back on Monday for a full refund but really you should pay the shipping.
Also I need you to verify your shipping address.
Thanks.
Seller: Ok but cases where not cracked was packaging damaged
Buyer: The package was not damaged.
If you look at the broken case it is not a fresh break.
It's been that way for a while.
Also the JB-Weld on the cases is a sure sign of a problem.
Seller: Really no refund should be givin you are the one who purchased the emgine it was listed for parts how do i know u did not take out
what you needed and sent back junk.
Now I'm getting irritated...
Buyer: If you took quality pics and recorded your engine ID you will have no trouble verifying your junk.
Next time BEFORE you list something do yourself and your buyer a favor and spend a few extra seconds verifying what you are selling.
The only person you should be upset at is yourself.
Like so many others you are trying to blame others for your obvious errors.
But hey, accidents happen and errors are made, that is part of living.
But when you do make a mistake, man up and quit whining.
No need to reply as your emails will only go in the trash from now on as they are marked for auto deletion.
Seller responded to the dispute: "No refund should be givin it was listed as used and all parts are there you selected to buy it now and have had the engine and tore apart. How do i know that you havent taken parts that you needed and now just trying to scam somebody out of there money. Your pictures of any parts or so called proof is not valid you may have pictures from something else you have sold or purchased in your passed the listing notes that returns are not accepted you made the purchase."
Buyer. By this point I'm done and I escalate the case to eBay:
Hello. The seller does not want to provide a complete refund and take the engine back. The engine clearly is not as advertised as it was never inspected or if it was inspected it was not a very good job. The seller listed only minimal damage to the top end but failed to picture or describe any damage to the entire lower end. With the damage on the lower end it make it completely worthless. I have submitted pictures clearly showing some of the damage and can provide a host of others showing additional damage. Please let me know how to proceed in returning this engine for a full refund. If you need to contact me, my number is 541-603-2993. Thanks for your attention to this manner. Mike"
eBay's decision: Final decision:
This case was decided in your favor. To receive a refund for the item of $500.00, please ship the item back to the seller. As a courtesy, we have provided a prepaid shipping label to the return address. Please see our email in 'My Messages' for more details.
