Squish... How to accurately measure it.
To accurately measure squish you need to have the bottom end assembled, and you need to have the top end on with all the correct gaskets.
Some guys will put a piece of clay on top of the piston and compress the engine slowly one time, then remove the head and measure the clay.
This can be messy and isn't necessarily the best way or the most accurate way to measure it.
After reviewing a few different ways of doing it, I discovered the Motorrad way...
What we have here is a hollowed out spark plug (Squish adapter) with the correct threads for the bike I am measuring (Kx500).
Note that there are two holes drilled and tapped on either side of the Squish adapter.
These are for set screws that I don't have at the moment but will shortly

Oh, sorry about that.
Squish is the distance from the top of your piston to the bottom of the head.
If the distance is too close or too far away it's bad either way.

Alot more to it than just that...


angles, port times, primary/ secondary compression. port velocitys, rear boost port angle, size how the bike is going to be riden. etc



and have to give credit where credit is due.. I stole that Idea from BDI.

wow very good=) I had tried but I could not, in the end I took the gauge holder

but this is needed for the current phasing right?
because the squish measure it with a piece of tin which then insert into the head and then control how often remains, and that is the squish

so you gunna get off your butt and finish explaining what that gizmo is for? (pictures from BDI.. give credit where credit is due.. my motto)

And as far as giving credit where credit is due, most all the cool stuff I learned from Motorrad
