Well...
Here is the stuffer out of a V3 reed cage. (which matches the stock rubber intake boot pretty darn good).. Layed ontop of the RadValve Hole... Im not sure there is enough material on this thing to open it up to Work. (the bore on the carb side is only 38mm)

Vforce has told me the reed pedals they are sending me are actually Cut for a Shifter Kart..
I get the package tomarrow... so if there isnt a part number.. Ill email them and ask what it was off of...

Re: Motorrads Jeff Ward engine build series 2 and 3
Got my care package from Vforce.. The New reeds seem to be same thickness (havnt measureed yet), but instead of 4 pedles on one "bank", they are 2 pedles.. which because of less cuts in them, are stiffer.. I havnt timed them yet.. BUT, when installed, they show NO daylight through the cage, like the Ones that come on it do.. May be the trick setup on the V3...
Time for some Reed valve Testing... grin
Fun note, the Hole in the stuffer on the 2004 kx250 Cage I have, is LARGER than the hole in the Rad Valve for a Kx500..

Re: Motorrads Jeff Ward engine build series 2 and 3
here is a pic with the new reeds on the cage.
It is really hard to capture on a camera... But here you can see the reed stuffer from a 2004 kx250 layed ontop of a cut rad valve.. Yes it is bigger, not by much, but look in the corners, there is that ammount all around.. Significant if you actually calculated percentage... ..
And here is the kx250 stuffer next to the stuffer from the Vforce 3 reeds (which is VERY close to same size as KX500 intake).. to give you an idea HOW SMALL that Rad Valve hole really is... Its... SHOCKING..

Re: Motorrads Jeff Ward engine build series 2 and 3
Oh.. I also contacted Vforce about if there was a part number for these reeds, so others could order them, etc.. As i know many of you will be interested depending on my findings with them...
Here is the responce I got
"David
No I don't have them on open order but we are thinking about it. Just have anyone who want to order a set call me.
Regards
Jeff"
So... anyone can call up and order some... they just arnt a "part number" yet.. Seeing that they are thinking about making them avail, leads me to think they are having blow back/flutter issues in other High perf applications...
I think what does Us in, is windowing the piston...

Here is a picture of the Two reeds next to eachother, so you can see what Im talking about..
Bottom is standard V3 fare..
I am actually considering rinning a combo of the two pedals...

Friar-Tuck:
Thanks for the photo and explanation.
I thought you got a new cage and reeds. These just pop in the V-3.
So anyone with a V3 could get these and install them.
I wish I had the Denaro to call the guy and order a set.
If only to show my appreciation for all the time/work you put into posting the results of your testing.
In my situation I would still have to buy a V-3, call for the non-part #'d (upgraded reeds) & and replace my current set up.
(remember it came with the bike undecided)
However!
If I was Building a bike Currently... Helloo Is anybody out there?! McFly!!!
Like the Guys Currently Putting bikes together with all the Cool Stuff...And already Have A V-3 ...

The key there is the "High performance application" part.
Running a Basically stock or mild build (pipe/air filter/windowed piston) the "non part#'d reed could be listed as a "Torque" or "Bottom End" application.
Let's say If you spend 90% of your time off Idle to 3/4 throttle.
I'm pretty sure that's why the Rad Valve works so well for my mostly single track, rarely even get into 5th gear application. The intake velocity is kept high enough to keep plunking along, but not so high as to get the reeds fluttering, and, as you stated (I think in an earlier post) the large "Secondary" part of the reed never even opens.
Heck,
I haven't even put my windowed piston in yet, so I may be all wet with the theory anyway!
Thanks again Rad, I have to admit seeing all the stuff going on in your shop makes me want to start tearing my bike apart again! grin
Standing by for the next development!

It took me so long to write my last post you got in another post....
My only concern with that is the air/fuel is gonna follow the path of least resistance, so although it may have a higher frequency than the rad valve, the smaller (V-3) would be made to work until the larger side would open.
I'm sayin is that just another way of running the boyesen theory. The multiple reed side is gonna take less effort to move,
at what point is the one side bouncing around and just messing up the signal for the larger side to work ?
This is your mission should you accept it... This message & My Head are gonna self destruct in 5 seconds...
Mission Impossible...
No... Mission Possible! grin

Motorrad:
Just cant leave well enough alone...
Hand Lapping the V3 reed cage to be 100% true and flat.. As yes there are many draw backs to this cage, I see most of them fixable, to be a good runner... and the screws in the V2 scare the crap out of me...
Why am I like this? Would be so much easyer if I could just piston slap a bike and be done with it.. Like 95% of everyone I know..

Re: Motorrads Jeff Ward engine build series 2 and 3
I currently run a .125" reed spacer to Pull the reed tips out a bit to get a better shot at the sub ports, and fix some Vforce 3 issues..
What would you consider a "highly tuned" Cylinder..
Mine is pretty changed at this point in the game. Just never really posted it all up... Secret Id have to kill you stuff ya know...
Port time/duration changed (jug raised)
boost ports altered, angled, etc
transfers cleaned altered,
angles into CYL changed to get the fuel charge where I want it. (have a pretty Butterfly for piston wash now)
Intake sub ports altered
Rear intake port changed
Exaust cleaned polished
KIPS changed, shimmed, etc...
Kips ports angles changed
I have this CYL. and a VERY stock CLY... And I can swap back and forth now to make shure the "baseline" in my head is the same as what it was.. Digitron helps also..
