The festive season has not been a good season for turbo bike building but now it's over I've got to get my finger out and get some progress on the old girl!
Just to get something finished I had a go at the exhaust, I had bought a car tail pipe off eBay for £50 it is an absorption silencer and is straight through, apparently, quote "the best exhaust is no exhaust at all", so going on that headings the car tailpipe fitted the bill just fine. Saying that when I started it to see what like the noise was it was street sleeper quiet! Ok I think I can go with that, anyway now it's together, only the springs to fit but it was getting late so a job for another day. There is three expansion joints, they will be more obvious when the springs are fitted. The exhaust has used up a bit of ground clearance but it will be ok for now.

And from the rear

Here's a project for my project. The engine in the bike is just as mr kawasaki intended, inside at least. This one, a low miles KLX c, is going to get messed around with, cams piston welded crank that sort of thing, ports cleaned up, well just whatever comes along I would like an uprated connecting rod and big end bearing but I have not found any available yet. A one off Carrillo is a possibility but I have not enquired about it and it might be a dent my bank balance could do without. If anyone knows of a high quality rod available for the KLX 650 C please could you give me a heads up on it.

My two pigs to play with if we get a nice day this summer!!!

The last time I checked with Carrillo they wanted to do something like 50 to make it worth their time.
I could probably have sold them all by now but it was too big of a investment for me.
Did you check with Wossner?

I also found this klx650 Yahoo forum:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/KLX650/info
If I were you I would join and see if they have any suggestions for your rod.
Then, let us know what you find

Thanks for the links, I've had a look at that. I've got a wossner piston here ready to go. A company called web cam in California have some cam grinds available although I'm going to write out an expected spec and they might even suggest a custom grind, I am dealing with a agent for them here in the uk.
That yahoo group I've filled in the application so I will see what info I can get there!
Thanks man.

This is kind of old news but my phone battery was playing up and the cold would drain the power, every time I went to take a photo the phone would switch off. So this was done just before or after new year. I cleaned the coating off a few 2.5mm welding rods and bent them into U shapes then bent them again to form spring mounts. I made a "E" shape out of welding rod again to get the spring mounts on at a even spacing. What a fiddley sh!t of a job and again showed up my kak handed welding, oh well.

There are two expansion joints in the exhaust and the silencer is just slipped on so there are three sets of two springs. Also in this picture you cab see I have welded in the A/F sensor and fitted the probe. I also had a trial startup with the A/F sensor in and working. It was way rich but really it means nothing till the intake side of things are sorted.

You know I was wondering... with all the extra power your going to be laying down, have you given any thought to beefing up your brakes?
I know your bike uses a pretty good size front brake rotor so it may not be necessary... but it couldn't hurt

I have a 320mm disc of a husqvarna 610 and a brembo 4 pot caliper off a ktm, I was thinking to do something with them.
For now, it's focus on go, not stop.

(Joking of course) I'll get to it.
