Hey No Problem-O ;)
http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=J-B ... orm=R5FD12

I think maybe finding an aluminum bolt or possibly a piece(s) of rod close to fit, and then weld it up .
Fill the hole just under the surface and it should be a little easier.
It looks like the piece was lying down and the gas was blowing the puddle around.
( please don't take it the wrong way,no ill intent here) Just throwing the idea of filling the hole so as not to have the
argon (or what ever gas or combo) blowing back at the torch/puddle, this might let the gas purge the puddle instead
of blowing the puddle around. I think that's why you have all the inclusions.
The whole project is looking great! The added flow you pick up will surely help! The electric pump is pretty clever!
Hey, isn't this how USMC 500 got started ," I was only gonna change the air filter" :D

Hey Tuck.
Thanks for the info.
I'll pass the info along on the welding.
My buddy has been a welder/fabricator for a lot of years but he only recently started toying with aluminum at my urging :)
I too have used JB Weld for a lot of different projects.
If my buddy has a hard time today you can bet it will be an option ;)
Once I get the 2 piece clutch cover done there is just no telling where my attentions may go.
Custom rear brake levers?
Higher volume impellers and covers?
For me it's a journey that I'm in no hurry to end.
I may even change my air filter :geek:

Didn't clean part enough.. And mostly. Didn't back gas.. Without back gasing. You get shitty weld... Yes, some filler piece would make life Easyer.... But not really necessary. Al

But what do I know... My welds look like a chicken puddle. :0)

whats your welders setup?

Gas:
Tungston corlor
tungston taper raio
tungston size
cups size
method of cooling torch
is he running a pedal? to controll power, or is he a On or off kind of guy
filler rod type
filler rod size.

He really should have run a tap, or just drilled out the hole to get rid of all the threads before he welded it. A. to get good clean metal, and no dirt. and B no odd places for air to hide.

Jinkies, I didn't want to Tick anyone off, I was working on my 6-G ASME Pipe Tig cert when I left the Steamfitters
(Local# 250 L.A.)to go play on the Railroad.
I had gotten My 6-G Pipe ASME Pressure Vessel and Boiler Code and all position plate up 3/4" with "Stick" when I was a 2nd year Apprentice. ( Some jobs required a plate cert for the supports, hangers et.al.) Geez, it has been 20years... anyway like I said I didn't want to be a jerk, just throwing the thought out there. Keep up the Good work!
Catch you later,

No, it's all good.
I don't think anyone is being a jerk
The more information the better :D
I'll see if I can get some more specifics.
I should have drilled out the threads before I brought it to him.
I know better and I know he is really busy...
More later,
Thanks guys!
