BUILDING A STREET LEGAL KX500 SUPERMOTO

Something else I don't see discussed very often on Super moto sites is tire pressure..
Here's what I am running.
Front Cold 32lb.
Rear Cold 30lb.

A little trim, a little shim, and on it goes...

Since I installed this wheel and tire combo I need to get the correct length figured out.
I'm guessing I'll have to remove about 1/2 to 1" but I don't know yet...

Going with a thinner chain helps the chain wear on the tire, but it does not eliminate it.
So, I'm going to make a shim.
Since I'm poor, I will do it the poor man way... Mr. Sawsall and Mr. Bench Grinder

New chain and moved the axle as far back as I could with the sprockets I am running.
It does make a small difference in unintended wheelies

Had a little adventure today...
After I installed my new chain I took it for a couple of short rides.
Since I just installed the wheels I haven't really had an opportunity to start pushing them.
Today was the first time I leaned it far enough over to the left and right where I really felt I was getting close to the edge.
In a nice left hand turn about 45 mph I starting loosing it
Lucky for me my butt puckered just enough to get the bike upright to get it off the edge and I rode out of it.
Felt like I was trying to flat track for a moment.
When I got back to the shop I took a look at the tire and found black greasy stuff on the edge of the tire...
Guess what it was?
Oh yeah, remember that new chain I put on?
It had a heavy amount of lube on it.
I didn't bother wiping it off.
Since the tire rubs just a wee bit on the chain it got covered in chain lube.

You can bet that I will finish my spacer and get it installed and keep the chain lube off my tire

Head 175 F
Coolant 140 F

After removing 2 1/16" from the side stand you can see that it is just about right

Don't say it..... Yes, I know.... The ground should have been closer to the welding to keep from frying the electronics...
What should have really happened is I should have removed the side stand from the bike completely...

Here is the spacer I made for the rear wheel....
The finish thickness is .120"
