I must have sent that email yesterday after they went home. So they have replied pretty damn fast! Good start anyway!

319 per rod.... Well... At least it's an option.
I guess with the down turn in the economy they are more interested in doing one offs.
That's great!

Oh!
Do you know what material they are making the rod from?

I think it's steel. 467g of it, sounds a lot? I wonder what a standard rod is? I'll ask on the advrider forum, there will be someone there who knows.

I know those cranks are heavy.
Shipping weight is 18lb
By comparison, a Wossner rod for a KX500 weighs 308 grams.

What is the weight of a kx500 crank/rod assembly? How does that compare?
I've ordered two rods, one standard and one +1mm longer. I have a bit to wait for them but on the other hand, lots of other things to do.
A wossner piston is 72g lighter than a standard KLX piston, I think 370g was quoted on one forum for a piston weight, so 440g for a oem one? If it is 440g for a standard piston, it makes 467g for a rod seem more like it?

I just looked up the spec for a KX500 and a '99 was 86x86mm bore and stroke by the info I found, is that right? That's a longer stroke for the KX! The KLX is 83mm stroke with a 100 bore.
Not maybe the easiest to see a pattern emerging comparing a two stroke with a four stroke, also the KX is a racing machine, and well the KLX had lights indicators and electric start........, it must be a weight saving on the original rod but then again if it isn't it will be uber strong

aaaaaand it's a Carrillo, big kudos !
I will get an answer eventually from someone on the weight of an oem rod. I'm not keen on stripping a engine down to find out, if I'm going to leave it in bits, I might even have a shed move before I'm finished this project and that would be a guaranteed method to loose a heap of bits.
