Well failure #1 , kinda. It goes in all gears just a slight neutral 1st gear rub going on I'm sure it'll be obvious "where" the touch is going on when I open it back up. Rode for 30min or so drove it in every gear & did fine other than the little damn chatery box of rox sound

& fifth would only engage or disengage clutchless ??? I was your gonna ruin it noises just you got issues so hopefully thats a plus
Arghhh I'm tiered & I gotta do it again

I didn't know you were that close to trying something.
That's cool
If you ruined the gears or shafts let me know... I may have an extra set I'd be willing to donate to the cause.

Just sucks cause the bikes gotta come clear back down. I can see why fiddling with the trans hasnt been done more.
Thanks for the offer on the parts. I dont think I hurt a thing just marked them to see where the problem is
First should just be a shim adjustment or maybe a slight shave on a gear, fifth really has me boggled though where thats the complete opposite end of the trans. Hope its apparent.

Yeah, that's quite the job assembling and disassembling and reassembling...
Keep us apprised as this could really help a lot of fellow KX riders...

Thinking about it today, I think I got it figured. I used hardened valve spring shims for the input shaft washer on the clutch arm side , they were bigger in OA diameter than the stock one so theyre rubbing on the 5th gear tooth tip , gotta be it. the other bit is just playing with hardened valve shims on the other side to get the depth right, thought I had it

. feeling better about it today anyway. I know where the crucial measurement will be for replicating the process too, whether anyone will want to... Billet hub is gonna need to be part of this , stock has a steel insert in the center & narrowing that area to .475 just seems like an aftermarket hub might be better. Sorry if this is just random blather at this point , but it helps to think it through. I want to have it "working" by the first of Nov, so I can take it to vegas & let KXPegger ride it so I have a witness
As for pics I have a bunch & its basically what I commented on doing on ,that other site, but I need to get it right before I detail it. It would be nice to have you help with it Sandblaster as you do excellent presentation. Delete my nonsense as you see fit & all that

I'll be happy to help any way I can.
If you want, send me the pics and I'll do the work up here and then transfer it over to kxriders.
You mentioned a billet hub?
Which hub would that be?

Dur billet not the right word , just thinking after market without the insert, Im just a little nervous the insert might spin in the hub now

That is great news!
Did you ever figure out what percentage of under drive you'll achieve with that gear box?
