yea I know.

funny.... I have seen 2 "engine builders" take credit for making that head One off.. only one of them... Yet funny thing is... there are more than one.. and neither of them did it.

Had a guy with a rocket science bike that I was questioning about one of those billet heads, if he knew where I could buy one or if he made it or what. Guy said he had the cnc program for it, but he wasn't going to make any more. Anyway we have a haas mill @ work so I even tried buying just the program, to no avail, he sounded okay about selling it he just couldnt find it. I dont know if he was just s schmoe or what...
My boss wouldnt r&d something like that but if I had a program in hand & 10 pre--orders he would have a hard time passing that up ughhh

If I was seriously thinking about something like that I would sit down with someone who really knew his stuff (Motorrad) and design one with a removable dome so you could get different compression ratios ect.
Built in compression release.
Improved cooling, less detonation, and more power, all through superior design.
You could do them safe to crazy and everything in between :D
We could do whatever a guru (Motorrad) would want...
You would need a test set up for dyno testing, temps, ect.
It would be a project but it would be fun as well...
The thing is, if you have a stock head you can get it machined for whatever you want and for a song compared to having something billet made.
Of course it wouldn't have the cool factor 8-)
Anyone want a project?
I can donate some CAD time ;)

Do you have master cam? Thats part of the hangup with the boss is he dont want to do R&D, if theres a working program thats plug & play he'd be alot easier to convince.

Here's a link to abit of what the shop does.

We are actually sold under the Industrial Injection Label though

http://www.industrialinjection.com/shop ... n/duramax/

All I do is a bit of machine work & assembly, but damn if I could convince him there's other market we're not tapping.
Like this

The cr5 guys & the k5 guys & the ktm3 guys would all love some of this stuff. Our cnc guy is all for it & the machines arent maxed out but it would have to be $ in the bosses pocket

I don't have access to mastercam but I'm sure I could model some stuff in CAD and generate 3d models that could be imported into mastercam.
I understand your bosses concerns.
CNC's and employees to run them are very expensive.
Doing K5 stuff would only interest a small market share.
That's why all the big boy shops only go after the newer bikes
I'll talk to the machine shop across the street and see what software they are using...
