There have been some strides made concerning the information available at the time of this post. The tps and power jet can both be used on the kx 500 . You just have to use the 250 ignition . And a Rpm switch . Yes theres some slight modifications needed . And all information concerning such is available at this site under the key words leo sadzewicz . Thanks mike for running that here .

No worries Coby.
I use this site now just to document info for the kx500.
As updates become available, I'll add to it.
By the way, I just picked up a 2000 kx250... 8-)

Sandblaster,
I know I'm kinda late to the 38mm party. I just came across this thread. I was looking
at buying a new 38mm PWK Quad Vent/Air Striker from JD Jetting here in WA. You stated
you need to block off some things. Can you tell me what has to be blocked off before I
purchase? I was looking to just buy a 97KX250 Carb but they are no longer offered thru
Kawaaki. Looking on the interwebs there are nothing but China knockoffs everywhere.

I appreciate the assistance.

Hi Steve.
Here is my thoughts...
Throwing on a Short body Air Striker that you need to plug several ports on is a pain.
You will need to also get a new throttle and cable.
Further you will also need to make up the difference in the shorter carb.
It's all doable but just a pain.
I'd buy a Chinesium 38mm Air Striker, set it up, run it.
In the mean time look for a 96-97 KX250 or a 2000 CR250 Air striker.
Get a full rebuild kit for it including a Jet Block or mid body gasket.
This is a cheap way to try the Air striker and see if you like it.
Also, get a Suzuki NECJ needle.
Run it second clip from the top.
You can find them on eBay.

If you decide to go ahead with the short body, let me know and I'll share everything that I remember

Thanks Sandblaster,

I believe I will stay away from the shortbody PWK and the chinese knockoffs. I will continue searching for a 96 or 97 KX250 carb. Thanks for the NECJ needle recommendation.

No worries.
You will find that needle will work good in your stock PWK as well.
It really wakes up the midrange 8-)
