But the good news I'm keen to build a kdx 200 hybrid from my 04 kx 250f roller , It seems a a really common and practical mod using a 125 frame. I've been matching part numbers , it seems most of my 250f parts will fit an 04 125 frame . I've found an 03 125 frame , but from what I researched the 03 had a different linkage set up ,, does anyone know if 04 linkage will fit an 03 , and has anyone built a kx kdx hybrid on kx guru
Kx kdx hybrid
Kx kdx hybrid
Hi guys ,, I've decided to abandon my kx 500 project
, in favour of a cr 500 af project , the only reason bring the availability of parts here in Australia , kx 500 engines are very hard to come by, and the price is astronomical

Re: Kx kdx hybrid
Hey Tommy.
Bummer on the KX500 project but at least you have a few others to keep you busy
Post your build of your crf500af as we do green and red
I've never seen any detailed builds on the the kdx hybrids anywhere.
I've seen them complete and from what I understand they are really a nice woods bike.
I can't wait to see how you progress so please feel free to post pics and give details that will save others potential headaches...
What year is your kdx?
I have some measurements of the 04-05 kx125 linkage here:

03 and 04 are different but I do not know how significant the difference is and I don't have the 03 to compare.

If bikes are for kids I'll never grow up.
Re: Kx kdx hybrid
I still havnt bought the kdx motor yet , but there's a kdx 200 motor for sale not far from my place , he's not sure of the year , wants peanuts for it , it looks to be a early to mid 90s . At bare minimum needs a new top end , heaven only knows what's wrong with the bottom end . from what I've read , the motor never changed from 89-94 . As for the 03 frame, the 04 linkage is not compatible , 03 was a 2 piece dog bone set up that mounts differently. 04+ Are one piece dog bones. If anyone knows anyone selling 04/05 kx 125 frame
, I'm your man

Re: Kx kdx hybrid
A lot of 89-94 kdx200 parts are the same but not all.
I have some of them listed here:
http://oem-cycle.com/KAWASAKIKDX200BIKEID.shtml
I'll keep my eyes open for a 04 frame...

Re: Kx kdx hybrid
Sweet !
thanks for the info mate
. That will definatly come in handy. Have you had much experience with the kdx 200 motor ? . I've ridden a early 80s air cooled kdx 200 when I was a kid and it was pretty potent when I was 16 lol. I've been reading some positive reviews of the kx 125/ kdx hybrids, and some performance gains with a few cheap mods
My experience has been mainly taking them apart and selling the pieces.
However, I have rode a few.
My opinion is that they have a lot of low end torque in a lite weigh package which is great for woods riding.
Put that in a modern chassis and you will have a killer trail machine.
Just don't head to your nearest MX track and think that you will dominate
I'd love to have one...
