eBay Cancelled the Global Shipping Program for used...

Post by Sandblaster »

This is not about eBay bashing.
We have sold on eBay since 1998 and have always appreciated their sales platform.
For those of you that don't know, the eBay Global Shipping Program was available to Top Rated Sellers and offered many advantages for International sales.
First... the cost is significantly less for Shipping through the eBay Global Shipping Program then through USPS.
Next, the import fees are calculated and shown on the ad so that the buyer does not get any surprises.
And very important for us is the protection we received when shipping Internationally.
Somewhere around the last part on September 2014 the Global Shipping Program stopped working and International sales dropped off dramatically..
We limped along till Friday the 3rd and I called eBay and played the waiting game.
When I finally was able to talk with someone they said everything looked good on my listings and system settings.
They were suppose to have someone get back to me.
Monday rolls around and nobody had called me back, so I called again....
This time after being disconnected, talking to 6 different eBay Reps, and spending over 3 hours on the phone, I was finally told that eBay cancelled the Global Shipping Program for Used Automotive and Motorcycle parts.
Of course we didn't hear anything about it through eBay and I see their discussion boards have no info on it.
Thanks eBay, just another way you are hurting good sellers.

Speaking of policies that are hurting good sellers, wait till people find out about PayPal's soon to be released "Item not as described" policy.
I don't want to spill the beans just yet but lets just say that for people selling used products, you are gonna be in for a big shock

Well.... you almost live out of the country.... but not quite :D
As a buyer here in the states you won't feel any effects unless some sellers throw up their hands and go to another selling platform.
We just lost about 65% of our International business compared to what we were doing just before eBay cut us off...
I will continue to use eBay for the foreseeable future but I am going to spend the time and money to start selling a line of high quality parts on my own site.
These parts are gonna be hard to get and or in outrageous condition.

Today I was doing some price comparisons between myself and other International sellers and I find that several other sellers are still active in the global shipping program.
WHAT!!!! :o :o :o
So I called eBay and spoke with Maria who after about 20 minutes of putting me on hold informs me that used parts are still part of the Global Shipping Program.
So I explained that after sitting on the phone for several hours last week I was told that used parts weren't allowed..
So Maria asks me who I spoke to.
I told her that I didn't know but that eBay should have a record of it.
Sure enough they do, but she had to send him a email and couldn't talk to him on the phone...
So why aren't my ads showing up under the Global shipping program?
They don't know...
So I removed myself from the program then re-enlisted..
Now I have to wait another day to see if my ads show up under the program....
The frustration continues..

I finally.... finally... figured out how to work around eBay's problem.
So I was up till 2:30 am this morning revising over 15,000 ads and then a few more at our sister store... AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!
eBay is suppose to call me with a resolution this coming week.
I can't wait to hear what they say.
I will patiently hear them out to see if there is something they can add.
I'll tell them that I already discovered what their problem is but I won't tell them my work around unless they pay me for my time
