Here is a ad on Craigslist that I responded to:

2001 CR 250 R. - $1 (Springfield)
Chrome FMF pipe/silencer, after market black plastics, break away clutch lever and break handle, aftermarket bars. Overall bikes is in awesome shape. Needs top-end rebuilt. I would rebuild and keep the bike, but I lost my job! I know what my bikes worth, even with a bad top-end...so please no low-ballers

Normally I just ignore it and go on.
But for some reason I had to reply:

Whoah there...
I meant no disrespect.
To say I'm high because I showed you the current value that Banks, Government Agencies, and other financial institutions use to establish the current market value of a good running bike is counter productive to promoting sales.
You should seriously reconsider your sales tactics as you may find it will promote the quick sale of your bike.

KBB on motorcycles means nothing.

when pops was looking for a KTM lc4. he was going to fincance it just for the hell of it.

bank said it was KBB for $1100

we laughed. and said we would take a shipping container full of them for that price.

Well.... it all depends on what you are doing and the bikes you are going after.
There is nothing special about a 13 year old cr250 with a blown top end...
We pick them up for about 700-800 bucks.
If they are really clean and have some nice after market parts we can go as high as 1000 for them..

Running is a grand about any day of the week around here, the last 2003 I bought with a trade of a $375 taurus 357. The electric powervalve bikes just dont bring it $$$

Yeah, things have really changed in the bike market and where you live has a big effect on what you can get them for.
Typically I see bikes go for about 300-500 less in South East then they do here in the Pacific North west.
