FLAME OF THE DAY.

Post by Sandblaster »

My manager showed up early to work today for some OT.
At about 6:30 am he hears a bang.
He walks outside and see's a guy peeing in our bushes.
He says, "Hey, what are you doing?"
The guy replies "Nothing man".
He starts to walk off when my manager walks around the side of his truck only to find a left over cider block from our wall laying in the drive way next to his truck.
By this time the guy has ran off.
Sure enough, he had some change in the left side of his dash and the Bum was trying to throw a cinder block through the window to get it but the window didn't break, it only scratched.
I sure wish I had been here..... :x

Dang, that's a drag..Here you guys have met all the cockamamie building and city codes, put money back into the community and
paid a lot of money for the construction and landscaping/driveway/parking, and this guy tries to throw a brick through the car window for a handful of change
...
I bet I could pick up enough bottles and cans in twenty minutes and earned more than what's there, and I'm Half Crippled!...
The operative word there is Earned I suppose...
I got a call from my Old Man today for the weekly check in/ update.
The main topic was "What the heck has this country come to?"
Throwing a brick through someone's window for a handful of change.!? .... Would it be possible to get one of those security camera systems put up around the building? Radio shack has like a four camera system (IIRC) for about $180.
It might not stop this kind of thing but video evidence is hard to beat!
You know, it's probably a good thing you weren't there when it happened...I would hate to hear the law twisted things around
and you were in a bind, account you had stopped the robbery but were charged with assault and battery! :o
I've been tryin' to change my ways, you know do the right thing and all, But this kind of disrespect of other folks and their property really gets my goat...and I haven't even addressed the urinating on your landscaping!!! :x
Turn the other cheek, forgive my brother 70 x 7 times, Vengeance is Mine says the Lord....Whew...I got a long way to go...
Flame of the day...Accomplished!

Thanks for the support Tuck.
Your right, the last time we had some trouble with some people I just about lost it....
They took toilet paper they had wiped their butts with and stuck them to my shop.
Sure, poop washes off but after all I had to do to get where I am at.... It can be somewhat frustrating...
I didn't know the video systems were so cheap.
I think I'll go down and check them out.
“Vengeance is mine; I will recompense”
Very hard to live that way, but I try.
Most of the time. ;)

It is hard, knowing what decent correct behavior is & trying to follow that when you could always twist the wording to "an eye for an eye" & throw the cinder block through the guys head. You know as long as you kill'm trespassing, the court goes easier on you, but if you try to teach them a lesson...
Doing the positive & letting it go will make you feel better in the long run, but wheres that instant karmic justice that bounces the cinder block off the window & knocks the bum unconscious. Really though chasing the guy down & buying him breakfast, offering to help get him on his feet. Charity never faileth, its about being right with ourselves & letting go of the hate. Doing our best isnt dependent on a thank you, or how its recieved its our actions for others that benefit us in building towards what we should be regardless of others choices.
Getting mad is so much easier though I hate thinking :?:

Had a customer buy a carburetor from me foe a 95 RM125.
He purchased it on a Friday after closing.
He sent me 3 emails saying that he paid for priority shipping and asked that I ship it out ASAP.
So, I made a special trip to the shop on my day off to get his carb shipped.
He received it very quickly.
The next day after he received it I get an email from him saying that the carb was junk.
He said that his mechanic spent 2.5 hours trying to remove the bowl but that we must have glued it on.
It goes on and on that he is pissed and that he missed the first race of the season and that he is so far behind on points that he won't race ect.
As a store owner what do you say?
Well, I apologized up one side and down the other and offered him a full refund.
He said that he could have bought a new carb for what he had in this one, ect, ect and that it didn't make sense to send this one back.
So I asked him what he proposed.
Then he went on and on again..... but no clear idea of what he wanted.
I then sent him a full refund and told him to keep the carb.
A few days later he sends me the carb back???
Ok, I take the carb over to my work bench, and notice that the small positioning screw is missing.
No biggie.
Next I get out a 17mm wrench and remove the main bowl bolt/Drain plu.
It comes right out and the bowl comes right off.
This is what I see.

So, he and his mechanic didn't know you had to remove the big bolt at the bottom of the bowl and he got charged for 2.5 hours of labor?
The carb is clean and after testing the float valve we found that it works perfectly.
Then after being totally focused on the bowl issue I discover that besides the missing bolt the slide assembly is missing.
After all the groveling I had to do and giving him a full refund I get ripped off.
Nice.

And what race series is a 95 RM125 competitive in?
I'm sure there is something out there but not in our area.
It's too new for vintage classes and it's to old to compete with a more modern 2T.

Yet, all that being said, that won't stop me from helping the next poor soul with a bike problem ;)

A customer buys a 99 YZ250 crank from us.
We ship it out immediately.
He receives it and 3 days later says that it does not fit and must be bent because it is rubbing.
I started to ask him some questions, Where is it rubbing, How was the crank inspected, What is the engine ID, ect.
He tells me that he does not know and that I have to talk to his mechanic.
Usually when a customer refers to a mechanic they mean some guy who rebuilds toasters, scooters, and hair dryers, not a real mechanic.
So I get on the phone and call his mechanic.
After a few questions I realize that the guy knows diddly about bikes.
He didn't even own a set of V blocks for checking trueness of the crank.
He says that he knows that it is bent because once he bolts on the primary crank gear that something is rubbing...
So, I ask the mechanic for the engine ID.
He gives me the engine ID and it is a 98 YZ250, not a 99.
Yamaha switched crank styles in 99 so a newer crank will not work for the older engine.
No problem, I'll just take it back and give the guy a refund less shipping.
Then I get a call from the customer with a new engine ID that is indeed from a 99 YZ250.
So, how did his mechanic give us the wrong engine ID?
The customer said it was the only yz250 engine his mechanic had in his shop.
My guess... The customer didn't want to pay 11 dollars for the return shipping so he just Googled the engine ID and was good to go.
Needless to say, he is on our block buyer list....
So he saved 11 dollars... Big deal.
With the way we help customers out he will loose by far more then that if he stays in MX...
