To accurately measure squish you need to have the bottom end assembled, and you need to have the top end on with all the correct gaskets.
Some guys will put a piece of clay on top of the piston and compress the engine slowly one time, then remove the head and measure the clay.
This can be messy and isn't necessarily the best way or the most accurate way to measure it.
After reviewing a few different ways of doing it, I discovered the Motorrad way...
What we have here is a hollowed out spark plug (Squish adapter) with the correct threads for the bike I am measuring (Kx500).
Note that there are two holes drilled and tapped on either side of the Squish adapter.
