Gun-kote paint. How well does it work? KG INDUSTRIES
Doug Haas former Kawasaki factory Engineer, sent me some Gunkote to try on a head and cylinder.
It is suppose to help draw heat away from the cylinder and move it to the painted surface.
I did some initial test and it looked positive so I decided to do a bit more testing to see what happens.
Here is the product..

I know that my testing methods are not scientifically AWESOME!!!!
In fact, you can say that they are downright crude.
But to test scientifically AWESOME would require more time and money then it is worth.
But I think this will get us a idea of if it has any application for bike stuff
Here is the set up

Air temp was 50f.
I turned on the heat gun and ran it until the block off plate in the intake reached 200f.
I used the block off plate because it was the most accurate way I could figure to start both cylinders off at the same temp.
Next, I moved the heat gun and took temps externally and internally in the same spot on both cylinders.
Five readings were taken and averaged at each spot with a Infrared thermometer.

Here is another testing method.
This time I put both cylinders in the oven at 275f for 40 minutes.
Shop temp was 54F.
I pulled both cylinders out at the same time and started checking temps.
