Lowering your KX500 rear shock

Post by Sandblaster » Fri Oct 30, 2020 1:12 am

The KX500 has a rear wheel travel of approx 13".
If you want to get exact, pull the spring out, install the shock and measure the full travel.
Then measure the length of the exposed chrome shaft including the length that is under the bump stop.
Lets use 9" as a example.

1" = .7" lowering shim.
2" = 1.4" lowering shim.
3" = 2.1" lowering shim.
4" = 2.8" lowering shim.
5" = 3.5" lowering shim.
6" = 4.2" lowering shim.
7" = 4.9" lowering shim.
8" = 5.6" lowering shim.
9" = 6.3" lowering shim.
10" = 7" lowering shim.
11" = 7.7" lowering shim.
If bikes are for kids I'll never grow up.
