Re: KX GURU Racing kx500 Engine in a 2016 KTM 250 SX PUMPKIN SEEDS BUILD
Take a look at some of the pics as it fit on the KX250 chassis..
This pipe was built and test fitted on a KX250 chassis.
The fitment and weld quality was beautiful.
We both assumed that is would be similar to the KTM 250 SXF Chassis.
It was really close, but not close enough.
If the pipe builder had the chassis this would never have happened...
Due to the distance between us and the cost of shipping the chassis back and forth this just wasn't economically feasible.
I have not been posting much for a while because I ran into some issues.
The pipe is absolutely beautiful.
And, when I test fit it, there was clearance for days.
The one thing I did not test was how well the everything worked once the suspension was fully compressed.
So, I popped off the fork caps and full compressed the pipe
And, it was fine as long as you did not turn the steering to the right.
It had 2" of interference fit
Yes, it made me sick because deep down I knew what was coming next.... NOOOOOO!!!!
YES!!!!!
I'm not going to show how much Jason and I butchered that pipe because it was sickening.
But options were limited.
So, the pipe is all cut, tacked together, and shipped back to Growler Racing.
I know they have the ability to fix it and make it look great again

I also had another project which was porting a KX500 Supermoto cylinder for a buddy.
I really wanted it to be as good as I could make it so I spent a LOT of time getting it right.
Now that those issues are done with I'm starting to port my cylinder.
I don't really like sleeves but I am also using this cylinder as a test cylinder???
I will be making small changes and dynoing the numbers in between changes.
That way we will know what sort of percentage of increases or decrease specific mods will do.
What I am really looking forward to is the Guru valve mods.
They are suppose to be done and here in a couple of weeks so we will finally see....
Being that it is sleeved, cutting the sub port walls out is a real pain..

I was so desperate for a aluminum right exhaust valve cover that I was going to have these pieces water jetted from 1/4" aluminum, glue them together with aluminum adhesive, then sand and polish.... Thank you TSR from saving me from myself Lol..
Thanks again TSR!!

I've never tried their coolant but I have a whole series of test's to perform this summer on two other products so I'll test this coolant as well..

Getting serious with TSR
KX450f Clutch cover with the filler neck for an adapted KX500.
Troy is making them without the filler neck.

That's mighty nice!
If you have one, I'd love to see a pic of the back side where the adapter ring is welded on. Might be in my K5 future some day.
P.S. Took your advice & sent my head to Larry Wiechman.

Lol... The back side is the ugly side and I don't believe I have ever taken a pic of that.
I'll see if I can find a pic later today and post it up.

Thank you FMF for the muffler...
I will take great care of it after I cut it up a bit

Wow, perfect timing...I just went on here to get some sage advice regarding silencer selection, and here you've posted a photo of one. What I need to know is, what's the quietest silencer with a spark arrestor that I can get (or adapt) for my KX500? I'm only going to be riding trails, definitely no racing and I don't mind sacrificing some power in exchange for quiet. I have a couple of KDX200s that are real quiet, even with the Gnarly expansion chamber (stock silencer), and it would be great to have the K5 to be nearly as quiet. Maybe that's not possible?
