I purchased two 83 kx250 engines from a local customer.
He told me that they were 83 kx250's and I checked the engine ID's and had a match.
They even came with a extra cylinder!
So I pictured and listed all the parts including the the three cylinders.
Right away I received a email from a potential buyer telling me that my cylinders were 84-85 KXT250 cylinders.
He was nice enough to send me pics.
The Tecate cylinder is on the right and the kx on the left.
Note that the KX cylinder (bottom) has split exhaust and extra boost ports high in the cylinder.
This was my customers final statement.
This jug (kx250) unported, with the right carb, pipe, and KX ignition is good for 9hp on a Tecate.
Whoa!
I believe it.
Big difference.
Thanks goes to my customer for taking the time to explain the difference as well as send me pics.
