Hi, is a fuel filter necessary for the kx500?
This was installed when I purchased the bike, http://www.bikebandit.com/aftermarket-p ... uel-filter.
If needed is this a good filter to use or could you recommend one please?

Is it necessary?
Yes and no.
There is a filter in your gas tank.
However, they can age and break over time.
So the inline fuel filter is always a good idea.
What you have a pic of is just fine.
It does not have to be expensive or fancy.
It just needs to work if the filter in the tank fails.
Also, check occasionally and make sure it is flowing correctly.
If it dribbles out, it isn't working good.
You don't want to run the carb low on fuel...
Here is what can happen faster then you will believe..

Thanks for the info. I will just stick with the one that's on there as it looks good to me and has good flow.

What size is the fuel line?
Also, is it recommended to use clear tubing versus a black tube?

That's funny, I have no idea what size the line is. I usually take my line with me and head to the bike shop.. Or to my private stash of partsChristopher wrote:What size is the fuel line?

I like the clear hose so I can see what it is doing... But shouldn't really matter as long as it is a quality material.
