Re: 2016 KTM 300 MEGA ENGINE AND BIKE BUILD :o
The question came up as to how many CC's am I adding to the lower end crankcase volume by modding the crankcases.
Approximately 22.23 cc per case half.
Or, Approximately 44.46 cc of lower crankcase volume.
I will need to calculate the amount removed from the crankshaft as well but it is not much
Will this change the engine performance?
We will see...

The engine was assembled with a .024" base gasket or .6mm.
We used the stock head and ran it.
Cylinder pressure was 175psi.
The results?
We lost 3 HP at the rear wheel
Where it improved is the over rev..
But, that was not unexpected...
Next we are going to start lowering the Port timing and see what happens.
If it reacts as the KX500 did then we should see some real improvements.
So stay tuned!!

Ok...
This build is still under way.
Rider feedback from Novice to Pro level riders is this is a awesome bike.
The power is smooth and controllable.
The handling is superb when compared to a 450 as it weighs about 30 lbs less yet the engine has approx the same HP and torque.
I'll get some dyno pulls posted before long...
