I bought a Ingersoll Rand 7.5HP 220V Single Phase Compressor 4 years ago brand new.
The motor is manufactured by WEG. The IR Part# 23172604
It has performed flawlessly.
Suddenly it would no longer start up.
The voltage going to the compressor is good, the fuses in the control panel are good.
When you turn the switch on the motor starts to turn over, then quits.
So I called the company it was purchased from and they said likely it is one or both of the Start Capacitors.
The Start Capacitors are as follows:
EPCOS
Motor Start
TIPO CA 50/60 Hz
340...408uF
Un250V~/Up275V~
B42705-A2347 - A0
20/65/21
Start Capacitor IR # 38474847
And just in case you need it eventually the Run capacitor is IR # 38474854
The issue is, Ingersoll Rand no longer sells the replacement Capacitors
I was told that they get a few calls a month from people looking for these capacitors but they have no solution.
I could tell you a very long story as to how I got this far but let's be positive..
Someone out there has what I need and I'm going to find it...
I've exhausted all the locals that are suppose to be Guru's... Right....
This company has them and want's 210 for them... NO!

One of the other Capacitor sites emailed me back and confirmed that CWEG340E250 is the correct part.
So hopefully I'll have a compressor again next week.

Re: Ingersoll Rand 7.5HP 220V Single Phase Compressor
Happy days!
I received the two capacitors today, had them plugged in within a few minutes.
Plugged in the power chord.
Turned the switch and it fired right up.
Not only that but it starts way faster then it was starting.
Apparently one capacitor was bad for a while putting all the load on one..
So I'm a happy camper.
If you have the same issue with your compressor I hope you find this thread and find it helpful..
