How do you clean up your expansion chamber?

Post by Sandblaster » Fri Nov 10, 2017 3:34 am

Here is a pic of a expansion chamber that is in really poor condition.
So, how do you get one like this clean?

Steel wire wheel , 3m scotchbrite pad and wd40 ... but there is a good way to prevent this bad rusty conditions.. spray it with wd40 or better put weapon-oil on it with a towel after every ride and clean.

Grassy Knoll: I have a suggestion.....there a toilet bowl cleaner called....The Works.....you squeeze it on, consistency of water and literally wash 90 % away as it runs off.... then dip a bristle brush in some, clean up last 10%....60 seconds done.... Then fistfull or 2 small bolts and cup or 2 of the works inside...shake the shit out of it.dump it out rinse it out with hose like brand new.....and around here they only sell that brand at dollar store so it's cheap.....My papa left my extra woods Gnarly pipe out of the shed all winter in snow etc......when I saw it it was unrecognizable ...... I was heated and he told me relax ..... He showed me toilet bowl cleaner. Spray it on and rust just runs off....... One of those old man secrets .. I Guess that cleaner has been around forever.... He said its how they kept farm tractor components rust free, car exhaust etc.... had it looking like day I got it

My pipes look good for years.
How?
I store inside where it is dry.
I'm not a rock hopper
When done riding, I wash my bike, dry the pipe, then wipe it down with wd-40.
Sure, it smokes a bit on start up but it's a smoker right?
This bike I had for 12 years before it was stolen...
That pipe was pristine..
