Back roads of Brookings Oregon

Post by Sandblaster » Mon Mar 23, 2015 2:59 pm

Thinking about Foxx and his Dad made me appreciate so much more the opportunities I still have with my Dad.
My Dad fought through Colon Cancer about 3 years ago and recently had his shoulder replaced
Yet, he's as tough as a WW2 combat boot..
He needed some help this year so I headed on down to Brookings with my bike in the back just in case the weather was good and we managed to get all his chores done.
We managed to get it all done and the weather late Saturday afternoon was awesome...
In Oregon during March, anything approaching 60 degrees is awesome

So, we took a little trip up one of the back roads... In the sunny patches, the road was warm and plenty of traction was to be found.
In the shady area's green moss grows in the center of the road and you don't dare change lanes...
I almost realized the problem too late... I couldn't figure out why I kept spinning up by back tire... I though at first that something was loose..
Then I watched my Dad at about 50 mph start going sideways as he was trying to get on the gas.
Then it dawned on me that the light coat of green stuff was moss...
So fast in the sun and slow in the shade is how it went.

All in all it was a great day..
If bikes are for kids I'll never grow up.
