Re: Do you really think the KX500 is dead?
Thanks for the link. The disjointedness of each individuals preference is the biggest obstacle to getting any kind of positive response . Easier for them to provide cookie cutter anybody can ride machines. I think that's part of the problem of how we ended up with no big bore selection. Easier to se...

http://www.cyclenews.com/45/21177/Racing-Article/Interview--KTM-Boss-Stefan-Pierer.aspx 100,000 would have their ear, that's a big # but I could get 5 people to call for me easy. In case you can't tell I like the idea  3593 members of kx5 9874 members of cr5 1333 cr5 banned? Ok even on a go...

Re: Do you really think the KX500 is dead?
I'd say go into kx/cr riders & post the title Kawasaki / Honda set to release a new big bore, just call & tell them you want it. Really though ktm is the best bet followed by Yamaha where they never gave up on the 2-stroke guys. Wonder if units sold can be found as a figure, ktm300/yz250 if you know...

Re: Do you really think the KX500 is dead?
I wonder how many emails it would take. If you could get near all the active users on the cr5 sites & the k5 site to bombard the oems' with "we want”. Look @ service Honda would have to be a point. I think the request would need to be a realistic standardized thought. 6-speed 5-600 cc's , more endur...

Re: Building a 91 KX500 engine
Awesome to see you building up another one. Think about plating, it gets on everything, you gotta do the bore & sleeve. OS outer diameter bearing would work, but there's nothing that fits the bill. Keep on with the updates, I wanna see how this turns out If you have a lathe with a a huge throw you c...

Re: How hot is too hot for your bearings, cases, and seals?
I'm thinking, heat a case half in the oven to 300 test, 350 test , 400 test. I'm betting its done there but if Im wrong, could keep going. The tester is aerospace quality, we use it to test for junk d-max heads. This is awesomeness , most screwed up parts are from the "mechanic" , nice to learn the ...

Re: How hot is too hot for your bearings, cases, and seals?
I have an aluminum hardness tester at work if it helps any, also have a sacrificial case set. I don't think you could get bearings hot enough to ...

X1000 tolerance in engines can get down to 1/30 of a hairs width, literally. How big of a gob of crud is that.

Re: Clear coating aluminum, what works and what doesn't?
Right cool project. I've use vht stuff on a pipe before, baked on per instructions. Didn't stick for .... Went back to good old barbecue black. Be sure to scratch test before committing . My stuff was glassbeaded even.
