Re: Powerdynamo MZB INSTALLATION ON A KX500

6-28-20 Update. I finally got around to running both the stock and the Power D on the dyno. The Power D was set at .087" BTDC. The stock unit was set at the middle position. The results were almost 2 HP more on the stock system  So.. we need to advance the timing a bit on the Power D and run ...

Re: KX Guru Racing JT Engine Works KX500 Induction Crank testing

Just back from the dyno. What did we do? Stock carb Stock ignition Stock reed Stock pipe Stock muffler w sparky. Reduced port timing Bumped compression Stock Ignition on the center mark. Turns out that is where we made the most power. Straight C12 with Motul 800 at 50:1 20200626_180112_resized.jpg 2...

Re: KX500 swap into 1985 LT250

There have been a lot of positive comments on Facebook regarding this build.
The only negative thing posted was a guy who said that these frames are pretty light and prone to crack.
That's ok, you find the weakness and make it better than it was before 8-)

Re: KXV500 - KX500 engine in a SXV550 chassis

Lol... You have Power D... Power dynamo.
I'm actually doing a experiment right now to see how the Power D compares to the stock ignition for performance based on that .087 number.
as far as I know, nobody has checked the power D for that.
I should know fairly soon...

KX Guru Racing JT Engine Works KX500 Induction Crank testing

Ok. I have made good progress after some self inflicted ignition issues :o I've got the jetting pretty good so I intend to do some dyno numbers next week. at the current configuration I expect low 50's at the rear wheel. Remember... This is using a stock carb, pipe, muffler, ignition, and reed, with...

Re: KXV500 - KX500 engine in a SXV550 chassis

Ok. I really like the conversion. My hats off to you for a fine job. The one thing I would do different is swap to a larger carb. 38mm air striker. Biggest bang for the buck. Smart carb 40mm SC2. Expensive but the e40mm SC2 is the easiest to tune and once set up it works at any altitude. 44mm Lectro...
